How to Promote Your SaaS on Reddit Without Getting Banned

Why Reddit removes launch posts within minutes, how to find the subreddits where your buyers are, and a posting approach that earns replies instead of bans.

Founders keep reporting the same pattern: a Reddit post brings more real users than a launch platform — when it survives. Many don't. Posts from new accounts with a link and a pitch are often removed by moderators or filters before anyone sees them.

Why launch posts get removed

  • New or inactive accounts. Many subreddits filter posts from accounts with little history or karma.
  • Self-promotion rules. Most communities limit promotion to specific threads or days, or ban it outright. The rules are in each subreddit's sidebar and "about" page.
  • Link-first posts. A title that's really an ad and a body that's just a URL reads as spam to readers and moderators alike.

Find the communities where your buyers already are

Launch platforms are full of other founders. Subreddits are organised by problem — the people there are your potential customers. Start with the most specific community for your users, then the general founder ones. Our community finder lists communities by product category, each with a direct link to its rules.

A posting approach that works

  1. Participate first. Answer questions in the community for a couple of weeks before posting your own work.
  2. Lead with the problem and what you learned. "I spent six months trying to automate X — here's what broke" invites discussion. "Check out my tool" invites removal.
  3. Follow the rules literally. If links go in a weekly thread or in comments, do exactly that.
  4. Ask a specific question. "Would you pay $9 a month for this, and if not, what's missing?" gets useful answers — and honest no's are the most valuable data you'll get.
  5. Stay for the first hour and reply to every comment.

Measure which community actually worked

Use a separate UTM link for each subreddit, and if you launch on AskableHQ, the listing's traffic-source report and conversion snippet show which channel turned into signups — not just clicks.

FAQ

Can I promote my product on Reddit?

Often, but only within each subreddit's rules — many restrict promotion to specific threads or days. Read the rules page before posting and contribute to the community first.

Why was my Reddit post removed instantly?

Usually an automatic filter: a new or low-karma account, a link-only post, or a rule against self-promotion. Message the moderators politely if you believe it was a mistake.
